The Panthers defeated division rivals Atlanta Falcons 20-17 today at Bank of America Stadium to move to 6-3 and stay within one game of NFC South leaders the New Orleans Saints, with Christian McCaffrey scoring his first rushing touchdown, Cam Newton adding another highlight-reel leaping touchdown run and two Graham Gano field goals providing the scoring for the team. The Falcons jumped out to a 10-0 lead and looked to be cruising to a victory, but it was a 4th-and-1 stop that turned the momentum around and the Panthers scored 20 unanswered points to go up 20-10 before the Falcons answered back with a touchdown to cut the lead to only one score. The Panthers would stop the Falcons on downs to effectively end the game, but it took until the final whistle for the win to feel secure for the Panthers.
