The Carolina Panthers hit the field yet again on Wednesday for another minicamp session in the hottest weather of the summer so far. With only two more practices left before a long period of wait until training camp, the tempo and intensity was high. Here’s a quick recap:
- As reported earlier, Cam did not participate in throwing today, but did participate with the team in certain ways..

Thomas Davis and Cam in an ongoing yelling match. Training camp could be interesting.

- Since he has been unable to throw, Newton has been “participating” from behind the play all offseason so far, mostly trash talking the defense, and when it is directed at Thomas Davis, the former Georgia Bulldog responds in kind.
- Luke Kuechly looked to be back to his normal self, with some nice coverage in the passing game. Specifically against Curtis Samuel, Luke was able to keep up with the rookie’s burner-level speed, and make a nice pass deflection. Nice to see him flying around again.
- Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn and quarterback Derek Anderson got into a scuffle today. That’s probably something nobody expected to see even in training camp, let alone mini camp. Munnerlyn pressured Anderson to a point where the two began a shoving match, which was then shortly broken up. While it certainly isn’t like the last time there was a QB/CB scuffle in camp (Newton/Norman 2015), it still is an interesting one.
- The cornerback group is looking strong, including the rookie Corn Elder.
Nice few breakups by Worley, Bradberry and a diving pick from the latter. Then Corn gets some action on the outside and knocks one down.

- James Bradberry is due to have his cast removed after practice tomorrow. If you were worried about whether or not he will be fully healed by training camp, worry no more.
- Defense seemed to dominate the session today, but that is to be expected with the backup quarterback leading the offense. Austin Duke and Curtis Samuel stayed behind to get some extra work with WR coach Lance Taylor.
- Perhaps the best and finals news of the day: Christian McCaffrey will be at minicamp tomorrow. Should be a fun one.
