A frustrating day for the Carolina Panthers offense negated a spectacular day from the defense. While the scoreboard reads that the team gave up 17 points, 14 of them came from turnovers returned for touchdowns by the Bears defense. In a 17-3 loss, the Panthers only allowed the Bears 153 net yards and five first downs, two of which came on the last drive when the game was out of hand. If you remove a 70-yard Tarik Cohen catch-and-run, the statistics become even more mind-boggling. But it doesn’t matter, because the offense just could not finish drives and put points on the board. A 4th-and-2 that was stuffed, a long field goal that was passed up, or simply holding a timeout until the end of the first half and not letting the clock expire inside the red zone would have made a difference. While the game may have been ugly for Panthers fans, the pictures from an overcast day aren’t.
