The Panthers went into New Orleans for their biggest game of the season and not only did they come out with a loss, they may have lost their chance to win the NFC South as they fell to the Saints 31-21 to fall a full game behind them. In reality, they’re more like two games back as the Saints now hold the head-to-head tiebreaker; the Panthers are in all likelihood playing for a wild card spot in the NFC playoffs at this point. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram were as advertised, accounting for over 200 total yards from scrimmage for the fifth consecutive games; Cam Newton played well, but the defense, which had been the strength of Carolina’s team, let them down by allowing Drew Brees and the Saints to score 31 points.
