There’s a DJ Moore speed joke in here somewhere.

The Panthers’ rookie wide receiver was cited for traveling 113 mph in a 65 mph work zone earlier this month on I-77 and is due to appear in court on October 2nd – Moore was pulled over at 2:52a on Saturday morning near the intersection of I-77 and N.C. 24 and, according to Trooper H.L. Bautista’s report, was “polite and cooperative” – the team had just arrived back from their win over the Buffalo Bills and Moore told Bautista that the 21-year old that he was trying to get home.

Moore was driving a white 2017 Mercedes-Benz and has been charged with speeding and speeding in a work zone over 80 mph. The speed was so high that it caused Bautista to include the following phrase in his report – “F—, that car is moving.”

“When it all happened, D.J. came to us right away and explained the situation. He was very remorseful. He understood,” said coach Ron Rivera after practice Tuesday, the day after news of the ticket broke. “We chastised him obviously. And he’s moving on. And it’s an opportunity to learn for him and for the other young guys. ‘Hey, you have a responsibility to the community.”

Moore had four catches for 75 yards against the Buffalo Bills, but did not have a catch in last week’s preseason win over the Miami Dolphins.
