Ron Rivera won’t say whether or not Cam Newton will travel to San Francisco – “you’ll know tomorrow when we leave” is as close to an answer the Panthers coach would give – but the mere fact that it wasn’t an immediately negative response continues to be a step in the right direction as Cam Newton inches closer to being 100% healthy. The Panthers have continually toed the line that until their quarterback is healthy, they won’t make a decision on who will start – Kyle Allen has won four straight games without throwing an interception and has, for all intents and purposes, saved the Panthers 2019 season.

Newton continues to work on the side with trainers, as he has this entire week of practice – today he was only joined by Christian Miller, who continues to rehab the ankle injury he’s been battling for a few weeks as his teammates that sat out practice yesterday, Brian Burns and Dennis Daley, both returned in a limited fashion. Daley, who has started the past two games at left tackle, is almost certain to get the nod again in San Francisco with Greg Little still in the concussion protocol.

Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner, who missed the past three games with a high ankle sprain, seems set to return after practicing in full all week.

“At the end of the day, we’re going to play the guys that are healthy and ready to roll,” said Rivera about who will get the nod on the offensive line. “That’s probably the important thing. This is a good football team that we’re playing against, especially the front seven – so we’ve got to make sure that the guys out there is the guy that’s ready to play and gives us the best chance to win.”
