Welcome to the week 9 edition of the Panthers DFS Guide! While the Panthers did not get the win, their offense scored a season high 34 points and have fantasy relevant options going forward. Before we dive into week 9, let’s recap some monstrous performances in week 8 from two Panthers in particular.
WEEK 8 RECAP
My call to play D’Onta Foreman in tournaments paid off. Foreman smashed his price tag on all sites as he ran for 118 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns.
D.J. Moore was an automatic play in cash games and he rewarded those that rostered him to the tune of 6 catches, 152 receiving yards and one awesome touchdown.
Foreman and Moore helped some fantasy players win a lot of money last Sunday. DraftKings user “AllstarHarry” utilized Moore in the flex spot and won $1 million in the the DraftKings NFL $3.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire.
On FanDuel, “zubu123” ran Foreman and Moore in their lineup and won the top prize of $250,000 in the FanDuel $1.555M NFL Sunday Million.
Can we go back to Foreman and Moore this week? Let’s dive into the slate.

CASH GAME PLAYS
Panthers DST: The Panthers DST is priced $300 above the minimum on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Despite the Bengals pouring a lot of money into their offensive line during the offseason, Joe Burrow continues to get beat up like David Carr with the expansion Texans back in the day. The Bengals have allowed 30 sacks so far in 2022, which is the second most in the league.
The Panthers have generated 8 turnovers (tied for fourth lowest) and produced 12 sacks (tied for third fewest) so far this season. They have turned 3 of those 8 turnovers into touchdowns. Predicting defensive production is a tough task. However, the Panthers defense has shown they can take advantage when they’ve gotten their hands on the ball.
Consider the Panthers DST as an option for your cash game lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel.
D’Onta Foreman: Chuba Hubbard was ruled out on Friday, which should clear the way for the Foreman trucking company to keep pounding the rock. Although Head Coach Steve Wilks indicated that there would be a committee versus the Falcons, Foreman received 72% (26-of-36) of the carries.
Despite a rise in salary, he remains underpriced given his role and the matchup.
The Bengals will continue to be without stud defensive tackle D.J. Reader. Reader was hurt during the Bengals week 3 game against the Jets.
With Reader in the lineup, the Bengals allowed an average of 3.73 yards per carry and 86 yards rushing per game.
In five full games without Reader, the Bengals have allowed an average of 4.74 yards per carry and 149.4 yards rushing per game.
From an ownership perspective, Foreman projects to be mostly ignored on DraftKings and FanDuel as of the time of this writing. Foreman is a lock for cash games on Yahoo due to his low price.
D.J. Moore: In fantasy football, you definitely need some luck to come out on top. Prior to his spectacular 62-yard touchdown with 12 seconds remaining, Moore hauled in 5 catches for 90 yards, which would equate to 14 DraftKings points and 11.5 FanDuel/Yahoo points respectively.
Just like last week, Moore gets to take on another decimated secondary. The Bengals were dealt a huge blow on Monday night when their best corner Chidobe Awuzie tore his ACL. Additionally, the Bengals ruled out starting corner Mike Hilton on Friday.
Cincy’s searching in its secondary right now. Hilton was the starting NICKEL. Awuzie’s out. Tre Flowers is questionable. Cam Taylor-Britt has played in two games (1 GS). Eli Apple was benched recently. Rookie S Dax Hill has been taking reps at CB. https://t.co/pHMNjaLCbJ

Bengals rookie cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt will play in his third career NFL game on Sunday, making his second consecutive start. He was targeted by the Browns four times, allowing four completions and 60 receiving yards.
Since Christian McCaffrey and Robbie Anderson were traded, Moore has received 21 targets and has turned those opportunities into 13 catches for 221 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. DeAndre Hopkins is the only wide receiver to produce more point-per-reception (PPR) fantasy points than Moore over the last two weeks.
Look for Walker to target Moore often against this depleted Bengals secondary. Moore can be played as a one-off in your main slate lineups or he can be paired with Walker.
Terrace Marshall Jr: Prior to the Panthers game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago, offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo said “Terrace (Marshall) is going to get a lot of opportunities moving forward.”
McAdoo was not kidding. He was targeted on the Panthers first offensive snap against the Buccaneers. Although he could not make the catch, he received 3 targets, catching 2 of them for 31 yards.
Last week against Atlanta, he received 9 targets, with 3 of them in the red zone. He caught 4 passes for 87 yards. He also played 92% of the offensive snaps, which was a career best.
As noted earlier, the Bengals are extremely thin in the secondary. With his snap percentage and target share on the rise, Marshall makes for an excellent tournament play this week, especially on DraftKings.
As of Friday evening, the field is still ignoring Marshall as he’s only projected to be rostered by less than 1% of the field in the large field tournaments on DraftKings and FanDuel. I prefer Marshall on DraftKings since each reception is worth one full point as opposed to FanDuel and Yahoo.
P.J. Walker: Even after he set a career high in passing yards, Walker still barely eclipsed 20 DraftKings points against the Falcons. He could’ve had an even better day if he was able to connect on one of his passes to Terrace Marshall in the end zone.
For Walker to vault you to the top of the leaderboards in tournaments, he’ll need to connect for 2 or 3 touchdowns. He’s viable in larger field tournaments. You’ll want to pair him with Moore or Marshall. In smaller field tournaments, especially on DraftKings, you can consider pairing Walker with Moore and Marshall.
Carolina tight ends: If you’re running a single lineup, it’s tough to consider Tommy Tremble or Ian Thomas. They are splitting time on the field and have a very low floor. If you are running multiple lineups, it isn’t the worst idea to take a shot on Tremble in a few spots. He did receive 4 targets against Atlanta and is always in play to possibly get a carry on a sweep.
SINGLE GAME SHOWDOWN STRATEGY & POSSIBLE CAPTAIN/MVP PLAYS
DK CPT/FLEX SALARY
Terrace Marshall Jr (DraftKings only)
Foreman will likely be a very popular captain choice on DraftKings due to his inexplicably cheap price. I don’t typically play cash games for single game showdowns, but if you do, Foreman is not a bad choice in this spot.
Moore would be my favorite captain of this group. If you play Moore at captain, you’ll want to have Walker in your line to get that correlation.
In an extremely large field DraftKings tournament, Marshall is not a bad option and will automatically give you a unique build. As noted with Moore, you’ll want to play Walker if you play Marshall in your captain spot.
Bengals running back Joe Mixon continues to receive a ton of volume to the tune of 20.8 touches per game. He hasn’t produced this year but the Panthers have given up the 7th most fantasy points to running backs this year.
If you think the Bengals throw the ball all over the field on the Panthers, Higgins or Boyd make sense at your captain spot. If you think Burrow spreads it around, putting him at captain and pairing two pass catchers in the flex spot make sense.
POSSIBLE FLEX PLAYS
DK FLEX SALARY
Laviska Shenault Jr.
With Chase out, Hurst may get overlooked in a single game format. The Panthers did just allow Kyle Pitts to catch 5 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown last week.
The Panthers DST is extremely cheap and offers a lot of upside based on the offensive line struggles the Bengals have had so far.
I prefer Tremble to Thomas here. Thomas likely will not be as owned as Tremble.
