The first annual Roaring Riot Awards, which are voted on by the most loyal and rabid fans of the Carolina Panthers, honors the performances of those Panthers who have gone above and beyond both on and off the field.

Roaring Riot members, which number over 6,000 and are located in over a dozen countries around the world, voted in multiple categories and collectively decided on their favorite players and moments from the 2020 Panthers season.

The first two awards will be announced today with the rest of the awards, including the Most Valuable Panther and Thomas Davis Panther of the Year Award, being announced over the course of the week.

The Roaring Riot voted to give the 2020 Offensive Player of the Year Award to wide receiver Robby Anderson, who finished the season with 95 catches, 1,096 yards and three touchdowns in his first year in a Carolina Panthers uniform.

The reception and yardage total, as well as a 69.9% catch percentage, were career highs for the 27-year old.

Anderson, who was inked to a two-year, $20m contract before the season, produced his first 1,000-yard season, including joining Steve Smith as the one of the only two Panthers players to ever open a season with back-to-back 100-yard receiving games. Anderson’s 75-yard touchdown catch-and-run in Week 1 was the Panthers’ longest offensive play from scrimmage of the 2020 season.

In Week 15 at Green Bay, Anderson and DJ Moore became the second Panthers WR duo to each record 1,000+ receiving yards in the same season. Anderson finished the season ranked in the top 15 in the NFL in both receiving yardage and receptions.

Anderson endeared himself to the fanbase in the offseason by attending his introductory press conference wearing a Christian McCaffrey jersey and his ‘What’s That Bear Doing’ viral video provided one of the most fun and consistently revisited moments of the season for Panthers fans.
