It seems obvious that there are ten players the Panthers prefer to have on the field as the starting offensive line (72), Christian McCaffrey (72), Kyle Allen (72), DJ Moore (70), Curtis Samuel (66) and Ian Thomas (69) were on the field for over 90% of the plays in the Panthers 30-24 loss to the Seahawks at Bank of America Stadium, with Jarius Wright (43) and Chris Manhertz (28) taking the majority of the snaps at the final spot on the offense.

In his first action since being activated from injured reserve, Chris Hogan played only six offensive snaps, but was targeted on half of them and acted as the team’s main punt returner.

With interim head coach Perry Fewell calling the plays on defense, he played a lot of nickel cornerback Ross Cockrell (49), which was not a huge surprise considering how much 11 personnel the Seahawks run – but the lack of playing time for first-round pick Brian Burns has carried over from Ron Rivera. Burns played only seven snaps on defense, his lowest total of the entire season – he appears to be fully healthy after battling a wrist injury for much of the season, so his lack of playtime must be due to performance in practice.

Fewell said last week that he evaluates the tape of practice during the week to determine both who is active and who gets playing time on Sundays – with fellow rookie Christian Miller not active, Mario Addison (48) and Bruce Irvin (47) once again led the outside linebacker group in reps. Efe Obada (20) played his most snaps since before the bye week and Wes Horton (22) was much more active. Jermaine Carter, Jr, (18) the third linebacker in the 4-3 when the team runs it, played his most snaps since Week 8.
