After much speculation of a possible franchise tag, the Panthers announced today that they were able to avoid putting the tag on Kicker Graham Gano after working out a 4-year deal worth $17M ($4.25m/year) with $9M in guaranteed money just hours before the deadline.
The Panthers are expected to use the franchise tag on Gano if a long-term deal can’t be reached by the league’s 4p deadline Tuesday.
In the exhibition that included downpours, sloppy turnovers and rivals-turned-teammates, linebacker Thomas Davis, guard Trai Turner and kicker Graham Gano proudly wore the familiar silver and black helmets.
