Panthers outside linebacker Thomas Davis will make his third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance next Sunday as the NFL announced today he will replace Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr in the 73rd matchup of the NFL All Stars.
Davis finished the year with 76 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery in the 15 games he played this season. He sat out the Week 16 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to serve a one-game suspension for his illegal block on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams during an interception return the week before at Bank of America Stadium; Adams will also be appearing in Sunday’s Pro Bowl and Davis has since offered a public apology for the play.
After overcoming three ACL tears in his NFL career and expecting to take a lesser role in 2018, the 34-year old linebacker continues to show he can still play at a high level, ranking 10th on Pro Football Focus among 4-3 outside linebackers as well as 89th in the Top 100 players of 2017 by the NFL.
Be sure to catch Thomas Davis joining guard Trai Turner and kicker Graham Gano as Panthers representatives in Orlando at the Pro Bowl airing at 3 p.m. ET Sunday January 28th on ESPN.
