Player Injury Game Status Notes
Matt Kalil Groin Questionable Ron Rivera said that he is hopeful Kalil will play after tweaking his groin during Thursday’s practice. Amini Silatolu would start in his place if he can’t go.
Julius Peppers Shoulder Questionable Peppers was questionable last week and had two sacks, playing his usual amount of snaps.
Mario Addison Knee Questionable Addison may play less snaps on Sunday, the Panthers would lean on Wes Horton for extra production in that case.
Kurt Coleman Knee Out The MCL sprain is expected to keep him out for at least 2 weeks, maybe longer.
Demetrious Cox Ankle Out Ron Rivera says Colin Jones and Jairus Byrd will rotate at free safety.
Ryan Kalil Neck Out Tyler Larsen will start, but Kalil was active in practice, so he seems to be working his way back towards playing soon

Thursday – October 5, 2017

Many players that didn’t practice yesterday were back on the field today. But two straight days of missed practice for safety Demetrious Cox is not a good sign for his ability to play on Sunday. Tyler Larsen, who missed practice yesterday, practiced in full and seems to be in line for the start on Sunday.  Head coach Ron Rivera said he expects Addison, Peppers, Johnson, and Stewart back to practice tomorrow; left tackle Matt Kalil tweaked his groin during practice but was not on the official injury report.

Player Injury Participation Notes
Mario Addison Knee None Not sure Addison needs to practice to play on Sunday.
Kurt Coleman Knee None
Demetrious Cox Ankle None Two missed days of practice means Jairus Byrd or Colin Jones more likely to start on Sunday.
Charles Johnson Vet Day None
Ryan Kalil Neck None This is worrisome, looking more like we will see Tyler Larsen for another week. Probably the best option for season-long health
Julius Peppers Shoulder None Definitely doesn’t need to practice to play on Sunday.

Cam Newton Right Shoulder Limited “The New Normal”
Curtis Samuel Back Limited
Thomas Davis Rib Full

Wednesday – October 4, 2017

The Panthers consistently hold players out of practice on Wednesdays, so there’s no need to burn the house down in terror at the large number of players who sat out today. Tomorrow and Friday will be the true tests.

Kelvin Benjamin Knee None Still lingering from Week 3, didn’t practice last Wednesday either.

Thomas Davis Rib None

Curtis Samuel Back Limited
Trai Turner Knee Limited
Daryl Worley Shoulder Full After not practicing at all last week, Worley practices in full Wednesday, which is a very good sign.
