As is the case most Wednesdays, the Carolina Panthers had a laundry list of veteran players not participate in practice who are almost certain to play on Sunday; Week 14 was not different as weekly-vet-day-receivers Ryan Kalil, Mike Adams, Julius Peppers were joined by 35-year old Thomas Davis, who wore a backwards hat as he barked orders at the rest of the defense – even a day off won’t keep Davis from leading.

Christian McCaffrey, who has played every single snap the past three weeks, was given a limited workload to let his body recover and Torrey Smith, along with Cam Newton, took it easy on Wednesday – this team full of veterans has been handled efficiently by the training staff to ensure that they’re ready to go for Sunday.

In other words, Wednesdays, while important, are not as important as Sundays.

Case in point was Pro Bowl right guard Trai Turner, who sat out the second half of Sunday’s game and didn’t participate in today’s session, but Ron Rivera is bullish on his prospects for Week 14 in Cleveland.

“We feel good about him right now,” said Rivera. “I know that today was one of those things that we just wanted to keep an eye on him on the side and have him do some extra work over there first before we put him back out on the practice field. I feel pretty comfortable about it.”

Undrafted free agent offensive lineman Brendan Mahon apparently suffered a concussion during practice, he’ll enter the protocol and meet with doctors throughout the week – the rookie hasn’t been active since Week 3 against the Bengals.
