With Aaron Donald unable to participate in the Pro Bowl due to the Rams playing in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, Panthers defensive tackle Kawann Short has been added to the NFC squad for the second time in his career.

Short previously was honored in 2015.

The 29-year old Short, who signed a five-year, $80m extension with Carolina in the spring of 2017, finished the season with three sacks and 12 tackles for loss, a number that tied for fourth among defensive tackles in the NFL this season over only fourteen games. He also added a forced fumble – since 2015, Short has tied for third in the NFL among defensive tackles with 27.5 sacks and 47 tackles for loss.

Short ranks seventh on the Panthers all-time sacks list.

Luke Kuechly, who was voted to the Pro Bowl for the sixth time this season, will not be participating – Short will join Trai Turner as the only Panthers participating in Orlando.

The 2019 Pro Bowl takes place at Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. ET and will be simulcast on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ABC. ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” broadcast crew of Joe Tessitore, Jason Witten, Booger McFarland and Lisa Salters will announce.
