Antwan Staley Goes WR In The Second

Round 1 (16) – Clelin Ferrell, Edge Clemson

The Panthers have a need on the edge, so why not stay at in their backyard and select one of the best in recent memory at Clemson? Last season for the Tigers, Ferrell registered 55 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks on his way to winning the Ted Hendricks Award, which is given to the top defensive end – as the Panthers look to make up for the loss of Julius Peppers, Ferrell and his experience playing in a 4-3 would be a good fit.

Round 2 (47) – A.J. Brown, WR Ole Miss

While D.K. Metcalf has been one of the talks of the draft this year, his college teammate Brown isn’t a slouch either. Although at only 6-0, Brown has the power and quickness that allows him to separate from defenders. The Panthers need to find more weapons to help Cam Newton. Brown would be an instant impact player, assuming he is still around in Round 2.

Round 3 (77) – Bobby Evans, OT Oklahoma

The Panthers definitely need to continue to build their offensive line to protect Newton. Evans in the third round would make a lot of sense. He can play at right tackle and could play inside on the next level.

Round 3 (100) – Tyree Jackson, QB Buffalo

Carolina needs to find a backup quarterback to develop behind Cam Newton. Jackson would be a good fit as the two share similar skillsets and if Jackson is around in Round 4, the Panthers definitely have to consider drafting him.

Round 4 (115) – Saquan Hampton, S Rutgers

Hampton in the fifth round would add more depth to the Panthers secondary. He is a prospect with good size whose college versatility as Hampton can play in nickel situations – we know how Ron Rivera likes his multi-tooled players.

Round 5 (154) – Caleb Wilson, TE UCLA

Panthers adding Wilson makes sense considering Greg Olson is getting older – and injuries have been an issue for him in recent years. Although Wilson is still in the developmental phase, he does have the speed and the ability to be a factor down the line, potentially.

Round 6 (187) – Jalin Moore, RB Appalachian State

Moore is not overly dynamic as a runner,  but he is tough inside and finishes his runs out in space. Although the Panthers clearly have a top running back, Moore should fit right in.
