With Kyle Allen getting his first start of the 2019 season and Cam Newton not in the building, there were other interesting tidbits to glean from the Panthers’ snap counts in the desert. Rookie Greg Little (32) and Daryl Williams (36) split time in a planned rotation protecting Allen’s blindside – after watching Little play, it will be interesting to see how long this rotation lasts before the job goes to the ‘left tackle of the future’. After Trai Turner (51) exited with an ankle injury, Tyler Larsen (7) took his spot for most of the fourth quarter, but Williams took the final snaps at right guard as the Panthers killed the clock.

Will Williams get some looks at the guard spot in the future?

Chris Hogan (19) saw his most snaps of the season and recorded one catch; Jarius Wright (31) who also plays out of the slot, had two catches for 38 yards. Christian McCaffrey (58) saw his first time off of the season as the Panthers used Reggie Bonnafon (5) on the final possession with a two-score lead.

With Kawann Short held out with a shoulder injury, Vernon Butler (18) got the start but was outsnapped by Kyle Love (30) on the defensive line – with the Cardinals’ four- and five-wide sets, the Panthers employed a lot of nickel coverage, with Ross Cockrell (75) manning the inside corner position instead of Javien Elliott, who had gotten the nod in the first two contests of the season. Brian Burns (56) led the outside linebackers in snaps and collected his second sack in as many weeks along with four tackles, while fellow rookie Christian Miller made the most of his 24 snaps with two sacks.
