Don’t let the rumors your cousin Bob or Karen from Accounting heard on the internet fool you – the Panthers will still play their games in uptown Charlotte.
But for a Wednesday morning in June, the Panthers world revolved around Rock Hill as owner David Tepper and other Panthers representatives traveled down I-77 to celebrate the ceremonial signing of the Professional Sports Team Incentive Act of 2019, a $115m incentive package meant to draw the Panthers across the border, into law by South Carolina governor Henry McMaster.
“Welcome to Rock Hill – we’re glad to have you,” said Rock Hill mayor John Gettys as Tepper promised to build a world-class facility in “Football City, USA”.
Check out some of Tepper’s comments from the event as well as some of the sights and sounds of a city block filled with Panthers fans in downtown Rock Hill.
