It is quite hard to judge Williams’ ability to read rushing lanes – much of what he was asked to do in Washington State’s scheme was to simply hit the gap in front of him. With that said, there were examples on tape of him pressing the line to find the open rushing lane:

 

As well as identifying a suitable cutback lane:

 

However, there were instances on tape of him missing potential rushing lanes, such as the cutback lane on the following play:

 

And further to this, he also tended to run with a sense of hesitation when an obvious rushing lane failed to appear:

 

It is hard to come to a conclusive assessment on Williams’ ability to read rushing lanes, but that failure in itself suggests that Williams’ vision is neither a great asset nor a great fault.
